On that occasion, Fernando Espinoza, during the captains' coin toss, used a personalised coin and made a jocular comment about "farming aura," an expression from internet slang.
Although the scene was perceived as a joke by many, it generated a negative reaction from the National Refereeing Directorate, which had issued a statement days earlier with strict guidelines for the coin toss ceremony, prohibiting the use of coins with inscriptions or slogans considered "jocular or inappropriate." This action by the referee from Mendoza reportedly led to his non-appointment for the following matchday.
